Undergraduate Students

The undergraduate program in early childhood education works closely with the Vacca Office of Student Services (prior to admission to the program) and the Office of Clinical Experience (to facilitate field experiences and student teaching).

• The Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (C.O.S.T.) is a collaboration of 16 colleges and universities in the United States that provides opportunities for its students to have quality student teaching experiences in overseas settings. 91ÊÓƵ is a member of COST. Master's Degree Students

• The M.Ed. program in early childhood education is based on transcript evaluation and individually developed to meet students' continuing educational requirements. An off-campus Master's cohort is available. Advisors are assigned after admission into the ECED M.Ed. program. Please note that the Early Childhood M.Ed. program has temporarily suspended admissions, as of February 2025. For more information, please contact Dr. Elizabeth Kenyon: ekenyon@kent.edu
• The Early Childhood MAT program is for those individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree in another subject area and who are interested in becoming certified to teach Preschool through Grade 5 in the state of Ohio.

Doctoral Students

An early childhood emphasis within the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies doctoral program allows graduate students to pursue a primary emphasis in curriculum and instruction and an individual focus in early childhood education. Early childhood core requirements emphasize constructivist teaching, social action, policy building and teacher as researcher. Ph.D. graduate admissions is required.
